About the Image: This light station was established in 1858. The construction material used was brick and wood. It became automated in 1974 and is still active today. The light station stands 32 feet tall and the focal plane is 56 feet. It is located at Mount Desert Island, Acadia National Park, Maine. Original optic was a fifth order Fresnel lens. Present lens is a Fourth order Fresnel. Light signal rotation last four second, three seconds red and 1 second of darkness.
